Exchange Foreign Currency into KRW

Resident	No limit for the amounts	If the exchange amount exceeds USD 10,000, it will be notified to the National Tax Service. Required documents : - Real name certificate (resident registration card, passport) - Document proving the details of acquisition (if the amount exceeds USD 20,000)
Non-resident	Less than USD 20,000 (no report)	If the exchange amount is more than USD 20,000, the certificate of foreign exchange report (confirmation) should be submitted. If the exchange amount exceeds USD 10,000, it will be notified to the National Tax Service.

Foreign currency left after the overseas travel can be changed to KRW or deposited to the foreign currency deposit.
As the foreign currency coin is discounted more than 50% in Korea, it is wise to use all coins during the overseas travel or at the airport, or keep it for the next overseas trip.
(As the coin causes expensive storage and transportation expenses, it is purchased at a discounted price.)
